IOM DRC and UCESA are committed to finding durable solutions to human mobility caused by climate change
On the occasion of the general assembly of the Union of Economic and Social Councils and similar institutions of Africa (UCESA), the Acting Chief of Mission of IOM DRC, Dr. Aymen Jarboui, and Mr. Ahmed Reda Chami, President of UCESA, signed a framework agreement on October 8, 2024, for the implementation of joint actions in the in-depth study of climate mobility in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
This project, commonly called as “Deep Dive DRC,” aims to better understand the causes and impact of climate change on human mobility and to engage stakeholders and the government in establishing appropriate solutions that promote resilient and sustainable development. In their discussions, the two representatives emphasized the importance of creating strong intersectoral partnerships in an approach that links humanitarian action, development, and peace to provide comprehensive, effective, and forward-looking solutions.
