Feedback and response mechanisms for displaced persons in the Tanganyika province
In the territory of Kalemie where IOM supports durable solutions, IOM has installed suggestion boxes which help communities express their needs and challenges and ensure transparency and accountability. This is part of IOM’s durable solutions project, funded by ECHO.
By setting up complaint mechanisms, IOM ensures that the voices of formerly displaced persons and host communities are heard and that their complaints are promptly and effectively addressed. The complaint boxes allow individuals to report issues related to their return or local integration, including about security, access to basic services, and aid distribution.
At IOM, we believe that it is crucial to provide channels for feedback – to improve programming and ensure our services are meeting the needs of the communities we serve. By installing complaint mechanisms in the villages, we are fostering greater transparency, accountability, and trust with the communities we work with.
